The AstriCon pre-conference day has slowly evolved from merely commercial tracks into a more in-depth day of Asterisk training and workshops. This year, we will once again, offer Asterisk from Scratch as well as Asterisk as a Virtual Network Function workshop. Asterisk from Scratch is a great way for folks just starting with Asterisk to gain a better understanding of the platform. The Asterisk as a Virtual Network Function workshop is for some of our more advanced AstriCon attendees.

Asterisk from Scratch consists of four sessions which will cover:

  1. Introduction to Asterisk & Asterisk Infrastructure
  2. Installing Asterisk & Intro to Dial Plan
  3. Configuring End Points & Interactive Dial Plan
  4. Advanced Dial Plan

The session will be lead by Chris Howard, Digium Developer Products Training Manager. To see additional details on each session, please visit www.AstriCon.net.

We are pleased to have Leif Madsen returning to AstriCon to offer the Asterisk as a Virtual Network Workshop. Leif is the DevOps team lead of the NFV Partner Engineering team at Red Hat in the Office of Technology and co-author of Asterisk: The Future of Telephony and Asterisk: The Definitive Guide. Leif, along with Doug Smith will co-host the Asterisk as a Virtual Network Function workshop. Doug is a member of the NFV Partner Engineering team in the Office of Technology at Red Hat, Inc. Doug specializes in DevOps for NFV, working to integrate partner solutions with OpenShift and OpenStack.

The hands-on workshop will be offered in four parts:

  • Session 1: Intro to NFV & VNF-Asterisk
  • Session 2: A VNF-Asterisk demo
  • Session 3: VNF-Asterisk, Deploying the Infrastructure
  • Session 4: VNF-Asterisk, Deploying the applications
