Asterisk Celebrates World Championship!

Malcolm Davenport January 28th, 2011

Having just completed a successful 11-plus year worldwide campaign, the Asterisk Open Source Communications toolkit has returned victorious from its match in the desert against the forces of Proprietary Telecommunications. The outcome was never in doubt, as Asterisk overwhelmed Proprietary Telecommunications while the opening whistle still echoed in the ears of the adoring Asterisk faithful. Coach Mark Spencer, seen here hoisting the crystal asterisk, had this to say: “Our code, the software that we built, line by line, function by function, just proved to the world what we’ve known for 11 years now, [that] Asterisk is the best software for building communications solutions in the world. I want to thank our developers, our users, and our fans. Without you, we’d all be stuck in a world of Proprietary Communications.”

The reaction from Proprietary Telecommunications was that of stunned silence. As the fans of over-priced, vendor-locked solutions wept openly, PT’s Offensive Coordinator Juan CambĂ©r was stunned. “We never, ever saw this coming. We always though that removing choice, and forcing our customers into a debtors’ prison of maintenance fees was the winning strategy,” said Juan. PT’s Defensive Coordinator Ken Kevinnedy added “It was a beating, plain and sample. We got schooled. The people have spoken.”

All-Star and game MVP Nick Fairley, when asked what he was going to do now, chest-bumped Russell Bryant, high-five’d Kevin Fleming and announced “I’m going to Astricon!”

The irony in all of this is that Mark is actually an Auburn graduate.
